What if Google rejects my app

Unlikely. You need to be doing something really wrong for them to reject your app

In a nutshell, Google doesn't remotely have the same level of stringent review process at Apple.
They don't really have a human reviewing your app in most cases.

As someone in the bubble forum put it quite eloquently:
The Google Play store would accept an app built by a squirrel. It’s the app store that’s the harder one to get into.
